Catalyst Announces CatScan™ Pro

PCI-SIG Compliance Workshop, Milpitas, CA, December 5, 2006 - Catalyst Enterprises, a leading manufacturer of advanced design verification and test tools for PCI Express and other high-performance communications technologies, today announced the introduction of CatScan Pro, a second-generation software-based PCI Express host-side, transaction-based exerciser, capture, and monitoring application. CatScan Pro is an extrapolation of Catalyst CatScan, which is a free, publicly available utility application that provides system scan, read, write, and decode features for PCI, PCI-X, and PCI Express systems. With over 2000 downloads, CatScan is considered an industry de facto standard utility and is in use at most developer labs.

CatScan Pro builds on CatScan features by adding an easy-to-use host-side transaction layer scripting engine to generate downstream transfers to selected PCI, PCI-X, and PCI Express devices. The GUI-based scripting engine includes options for employing conditional logic to control script sequencing and timing. Users will be able to run scripts through CatScan Pro that generate operations at the transaction layer in the PCI Express protocol. Additionally, as a script is executed, the user is provided with real-time upstream transactional response information, such as transaction layer completions. This provides the ability to quickly identify errors between add-in boards and system boards. A graphical, real-time register polling feature allows the user to monitor selected device registers and specific fields or bits within these registers, for active/non-active status.
