LeCroy Introduces Automated Compliance Packages for Popular Video Interface Standards—DisplayPort™ and HDMI™

Chestnut Ridge, NY, December 2, 2008 - LeCroy Corporation, a worldwide leader in serial data test solutions, today introduced compliance packages for the two most popular video interface standards, DisplayPort and HDMI. Fully integrated into LeCroy’s QualiPHY automated test engine, QPHY-DisplayPort and QPHY-HDMI drastically reduce test time and make compliance testing easy. As with the other standards supported by QualiPHY, QPHY-DisplayPort and QPHY-HDMI feature automated oscilloscope control for accurate measurements, connection diagrams showing the proper setup for each test, and report generation available in HTML, XML or PDF formats.

QPHY-DisplayPort and QPHY-HDMI work with LeCroy’s Serial Data Analyzer line of digital oscilloscopes with SDA II. LeCroy’s oscilloscope architecture integrates compliance testing with SDA II debugging tools for complete drill down to find the source of the failure. These debugging tools measure millions of unit intervals at speeds up to 50 times faster than any other oscilloscope, and include specialized features for visually predicting bit error rate directly on the eye and decomposing jitter. There is also a QuickView for intuitive combination eye and jitter breakdown master displays.

“We are pleased to add LeCroy’s compliance test package for DisplayPort 1.1a to our approved list of tools for development and industry adoption of the DisplayPort standard,” said Bill Lempesis, Executive Director, VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association.) “LeCroy’s efforts make it possible for companies to quickly test the compliance of the physical layer of their designs to the DisplayPort standard.”

About DisplayPort

DisplayPort, developed in 2007, is targeting the flat-panel display for computer market and is expected to replace VGA, DVI and LVDS. QPHY-DisplayPort is available for SDA 9000, SDA 11000 and SDA 13000 oscilloscopes. LeCroy recommends using the Efficere ET-DP-TPA-P (plug test adapter) and 10 two-inch GPPO-to-SMA cables. This equipment is available from Efficere individually or as part of the ET-DP-TPA-S Test Adapter Set.

About HDMI

HDMI, originally developed in 2003, has become the de facto standard for all consumer electronic connections to HDTVs. QPHY-HDMI is available for SDA 760Zi, DDA 760Zi, WavePro 760Zi (SDA II option required) and SDA 6020. LeCroy recommends using the Efficere ET-HDMI-TPA-P (plug test adapter) used in conjunction with ET-HDMI-TPA-E (EDID board with EEPROM) as well as 8 two-inch GPPO-to-SMA cables. This equipment is available from Efficere individually or as part of the ET-HDMI-TPA-S Test Adapter Set. Also required, 4 LeCroy HDMI Pull-Up Terminators, part number TF-HDMI-3.3V-QUADPAK.

About QualiPHY

QualiPHY, LeCroy’s automated test engine, is designed to reduce the time and effort needed to perform compliance testing on a wide array of high-speed serial buses. QualiPHY is the most intuitive and efficient tool available for performing serial data compliance testing. Selecting a new standard or test setup is done without leaving the main screen, and the user can start testing with a single button press. QualiPHY may be executed directly on the host oscilloscope, or it may be run on a computer located anywhere in the world, accessing the oscilloscope via LAN/WAN connections.
