LeCroy Announces New SCSI Express SSD Decode Support for PCI Express® Protocol Analysis

LeCroy Announces New SCSI Express SSD Decode Support for PCI Express® Protocol Analysis

Decoding for PQI Now Available in PCI Express Protocol Analyzer

STA Technology Showcase, Santa Clara, CA, May 9, 2012 - LeCroy Corporation, the worldwide leader in protocol test solutions, today demonstrated new features added to its PCI Express protocol analyzer line of products that will support testing and debugging of all recently announced PCIe® Solid State Drive (SSD) host interfaces. Previously, LeCroy had been the first to introduce NVM Express decode functionality to all of their Summit protocol analyzer line of products, helping reduce decoding time for complex PCIe host/device transactions. Now LeCroy is broadening its support of SSD host interfaces to include support for SCSI Express’s PQI (PCIe architecture Queuing Interface).

The SCSI Express protocol is derived from the INCITS T10's SOP-PQI Working group and the SCSI Trade Association. The protocol is based on the SCSI over PCIe (SOP) host interface specification which enables SCSI initiators communicating to SCSI targets over PCIe through the PQI transfer layer. This new protocol will enable SCSI devices to utilize the faster PCIe transport required to meet the demand in next generation enterprise designs.

"The availability of these tools demonstrates the strong ecosystem that is developing around SCSI Express," said Harry Mason, President of the SCSI Trade Association and director of Industry Marketing, LSI Corporation. "We are pleased that companies such as LeCroy which have a high level of expertise in storage protocol decoding are providing tools that will help bring SCSI Express enabled products to the marketplace."

"PCI Express is an industry standard approach to PCIe storage supporting low latency performance requirements, and scalable storage bandwidth. LeCroy supports the complexity of these new technologies by adding new features like these SSD decodes to our Summit analyzer platforms as standard features," said John Wiedemeier, Product Marketing Manager for the Interconnect Communications Group, LeCroy Corporation. “The Summit Family of products provides an important requirement to insure quality and performance for PCIe-based SSD development."

LeCroy's protocol analyzers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time.
