LeCroy Announces New 4 GS/s Color Scopes and Digital Filter Package

Chestnut Ridge, NY — May 1, 2000.

LeCroy is introducing two new members of its high-performance LC series of digital oscilloscopes. Both offer 2 GS/s sampling rate on all four channels and the ability to interleave to 4 GS/s sampling when using two (or one) inputs. They also incorporate the 10.4" flat panel color display which was first introduced by LeCroy in October 1999 for their top-of-the-line LC684 series. Now, design engineers in the mainstream of the scope market who need 1 GHz (LC564DL) or 500 MHz (LC554DL) scopes can get the same great sampling rate and display as used in LeCroy’s top-end scope, but at a much lower cost. Each of the new instruments offers 1 Mbyte of acquisition memory per channel—which interleaves to 2 Mbytes when using two (or one) channels. They also include a full range of triggers for troubleshooting, including slew rate, runt, pattern, dropout, and holdoff by time or events. A full line of I/O features are standard (GPIB, RS232,floppy disk, VGA port and Centronics port). An internal printer, portable hard drive, ATA flash card and PC memory card are optional I/O devices. LeCroy’s application specific signal analysis packages for testing of communications signals, power electronics, hard drives and optical drives are also available for the new LC564DL and LC554DL. Altogether, these scopes offer very powerful performance at a very reasonable price.

LeCroy is also releasing a first in the industry—an analysis package that allows digital scope users to apply pre-programmed or customized digital filters to their signals. The Digital Filter Package (DFP) contains low pass, high pass, band pass, band stop, raised cosine, raised root cosine, and gaussian filters. The user can also program a filter with up to 1,000 coefficients. There are many applications for this package, including telephone channel identification, modem echo cancellation, CDMA interference, ECG noise control, canceling of high-frequency background noise in disk drive and optical recording measurements, and the simple blocking of pickup from switching power supplies. The new package is compatible with all LeCroy scopes in the LC and Waverunner series. Previously delivered scopes can be upgraded through purchase of the DFP option followed by simple download from the LeCroy website of version 8.6.0 operating software (scheduled for availbility July 1, 2000).
