Problem:

How does the SPARQ measure time domain responses?

Solution:

SPARQ users can choose to display time domain results in addition to measured or imported S-parameters. The time domain results (step response, impulse response, Z and Rho) are derived from a selected S-parameter result. To determine a time domain result, first we take the inverse FFT of the S-parameter to determine the corresponding impulse response. This waveform is convolved with an impulse whose integral is a raised-cosine step. The rise time of this step is configured via the "Rise" selector that becomes visible when choosing to display a time domain result type.

By viewing the time domain results, users can see the time domain behavior of their DUTs at the time of measurement, without needing to use any separate software to simulate the time domain behavior.
