SIL761F 16-CHANNEL NIM SHAPING AMPLIFIER

(INFN Milano design)

PROGRAMMABLE AMPLIFICATION AND SHAPING OF FAST DETECTOR SIGNALS

Multiple channel spectroscopy experiments need an economic high performance instrument for amplification and shaping of detector signals. The SIL761F handles 16 inputs in a single, low cost NIM module without sacrificing precision or control options including programmable gain, shaping constants and polarity. Convienent outputs for both analog and timing measurements mean flexible configurations for a variety of experiments.

COMPUTER CONTROLS

INPUTS

IN1 to IN16: 16 front panel SMB connectors. Each input accepts positive or negative polarity pulses from preamplifier, with rise time from 10 to 800 ns and decay time from 50 to 500 s. Maximum input amplitude is 8 V.

LINEAR OUTPUTS

OUT1 to OUT16: One front panel multipin connector. Each output provides unipolar pulses with a full linear range from 0 to 8 V. Output impedance 100 ohm.

OUT1 to OUT16 x 10: One front panel multipin connector. Linear range is 8 V. Output impedance 100 ohm.

MUX OUT: One front panel multipin connector provides a selected unipolar output through analog multiplexer, remotely controlled. The output can be put in high impedance mode in order to allow the selection of both the module and the channel in cascade connection.

TIMING OUTPUTS

TOUT1 to TOUT16: One front panel multipin connector provides 16 outputs from the fast timing amplifier. Output impedance 50 ohm.

Timing MUX OUT: One front panel multipin connector provides a selected unipolar output through analog multiplexer, remotely controlled. The output can be put in high impedance mode in order to allow the selection of both the module and the channel in cascade connection.

NOTE: A Model 761F/R is available with rear-panel multipin input connector instead of front panel coaxial SMB connectors.

Power Requirements: 220 mA at +6 V; 100 mA at -6 V; 1.3 A at +12 V; 1.3 A at -12 V.
