Teledyne LeCroy and Protocol Insight leverage expertise to address MIPI® M-PHY Gear4 for UniPro/UFS

Santa Clara, CA, April 26, 2017 – Teledyne LeCroy, the worldwide leader in protocol test solutions, and Protocol Insight LLC., announce an agreement to jointly supply protocol test tools for the next generation of UniPro/UFS devices.

Universal Flash Storage (UFS) is a simple, high performance, mass storage device with a serial interface. It is primarily used in mobile systems between host processers and mass storage memory devices. With the upcoming migration of UFS devices from Gear3 at 5.9Gbps to Gear4 at 11.8Gbps, challenges in implementing the new, higher speed technology will necessitate newer, more capable and more comprehensive test tools.

The agreement between Teledyne LeCroy and Protocol Insight LLC will enable the joint development and supply of UniPro/UFS protocol analyzers and traffic generators for this expanding market. These tools will provide UFS Device designers and developers the ability to not only diagnose problems in the design but also to generate conformance, compliance, corner case and stress testing.

According to Roy Chestnut, Product Marketing Manager at Teledyne LeCroy, “By teaming up to meet the challenges of testing the next generation of UniPro/UFS devices, users will benefit from Teledyne LeCroy’s expertise in data acquisition and high speed probing while at the same time experiencing Protocol Insight’s extensive conformance and compliance testing capabilities.” Protocol Insight’s expertise in UniPro and UFS conformance and compliance testing adds unparalleled value as the UniPro/UFS market migrates to the next generation of MIPI M-PHY Gear 4. The new UniPro/UFS protocol analyzer and traffic generator will utilize Protocol Insights IP for the creation of the next generation of UniPro/UFS trace analysis and compliance tests.
