Teledyne LeCroy Announces New PCIe® OCuLink Cable Interposer and Adapter

Santa Clara, CA, November 7, 2017 – Teledyne LeCroy Inc., the worldwide leader in protocol test solutions, today announced the availability of new PCI Express PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 4.0 OCuLink Cable Interposers for the Summit™ PCI Express Protocol Analyzer. The PCIe OCuLink Cable Interposer enables up to x16 test connectivity to the Teledyne LeCroy PCI Express protocol analyzer for protocol analysis and test.

The PCI-SIG® OCuLink cable specification supports link widths from x1 to x4 on a single cable. OCuLink cables are rapidly becoming the leading internal and external cable for enterprise storage data systems. The Teledyne LeCroy PCIe OCuLink interposer can support up to a x8 link width configuration by utilizing two (2) OCuLink cables and can be configured with a second OCuLink interposer to provide up to a x16 PCIe link. When combined with Teledyne LeCroy’s Summit Protocol Analyzers, engineers can capture PCIe bus traffic between a system board and storage devices at data rates from 2.5 GT/s up to 16 GT/s. An OCuLink adapter card that can provide up to a x16 link between a CEM form factor connector and four x4 OCuLink ports is also available. “OCuLink Cables are becoming the new convergence cable for the datacenter,” said John Wiedemeier, Senior Product Marketing Manager in the Protocol Solutions Group, Teledyne LeCroy. “This new probing and adapter solution will support greater testing for the new OCuLink Cable specification of next generation high speed storage systems providing important reliability and quality assurance for performance.”

Engineers involved in developing enterprise data storage systems rely on Teledyne LeCroy PCI Express protocol analyzers tools for identifying, diagnosing errors and solving interoperability and performance issues. The intuitive views, including built-in protocol translations, hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting and the ability to create user defined test reports allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time. With this new interposer, engineers can capture and analyze NVMe and SMBus traffic and monitor sideband signaling such as PERST#, CWAKE#, VSP, and SMBus in an OCuLink point to point connection. RefClk signals both internal (using VSP pins) and external to the OCuLink cable can also be used with the protocol analyzer.
