Overview

The OakGate CD280 Compute Express Link (CXL) Validation Desktop Appliance is the industry's first validation system designed to test and debug PCI Express® 5.0 CXL Memory Expansion Devices.

The CD280-G5 CXL Validation Appliance is ideal for test teams who need to validate CXL device functionality and performance in a Intel host-based test system. The CXL Validation Appliance can connect up to eight (8) CEM (for add-in-cards) or eight (8) EDSFF E.3 CXL memory expansion devices.

The CXL Validation Desktop Appliance is powered by the OakGate Endeavor software, the industry’s first CXL-based validation testing software. The robust Endeavor software offers a broad set of testing features and capabilities. Endeavor supports a range of capabilities including traffic generation, register editing, security flows utilizing SPDM over DOE, SMBus and PCIe VDM, power control, sideband control and an interface to send passthrough commands. The CXL validation platforms also includes a python application programming interface (API).

New features for the CD280-G5 include support for memory interleaving, the foundational elements to develop your own Integrity and Data Encryption (IDE) tests, voltage margining, power glitching and built-in automation. Like the CD240-G5, users can launch and run CXL.org CV Compliance Tests from the Endeavor Software Application.

Feature Description
Discovery

View CXL devices that currently appear on the PCI bus. Set IP subnets and scan for the system. Includes user-based device locking (with status) to ensure a device is only being used by one user at a time.

Register Editor

Read and Write PCI Registers. Filter and Search Registers. Export to CSV.

Security

Execute built-in security flows utilizing Security Protocols and Data Models (SPDM) and Data Object Exchange (DOE). Support for SPDM transport layers SMBus/I2C, PCIe VDM & DOE. Send/receive mailbox commands

Traffic Generation

Easily generate common memory traffic profiles (reads/writes).

Passthrough Commands

Simple Interface for sending protocol-specific commands. Save and Load Commands. Construct commands via decoded command view settings or modify the command bytes directly. Currently supports Data Object Exchange (DOE), SMBus MCTP, VDM MCTP and Memory passthrough.

Peripheral Control and Power Management

Power control. Sideband PERST#, REFCLK, PWRDIS control. Voltage margining, power glitching and high-speed data capture are all available with the CD280-G5.

Automation/Python Application Programming Interface

Includes Built-in Automation. Additionally, control the Endeavor via Python API (uses Python 3). Each Endeavor application instance automatically starts its own REST server. Supported capabilities include Access Discovery Table, Start/Stop Devices, Rescan Appliance, Lock Devices, Read/Write Registers, and Send DOE Passthrough Commands.

CXL.org Compliance Verification Tests

Launch and run CXL.org CV Compliance Tests from the Endeavor Software Application. Included are security transport APIs to allow for test creation. Available for CXL.org Member Companies only.

Memory Interleaving

Ability to configure and test memory interleaving by making the participating memory controllers appear as one large pool of memory. Available for the CD280-G5.

Modules

Oakgate Modules CXL Validation Appliances are a robust, versatile way to test and debug solid-state CXL memory devices. Available for Type 3 CEM and E.3 CXL Memory Expansion Devices. The can be easily swapped in/out.
