Digital Oscilloscopes – XStream DSO – Serial Data Analysis – Eye Diagram

Problem:

How do I set up SDAIII to create an eye diagram?

Solution:

You can set up an eye diagram and eye mask test very quickly using our Serial Data Analysis software.

Click Analysis and select Serial Data.

Beneath the SDA tab, check the Enable SDA box and check the Lane 1 box.

Select the Signal tab. Set up your Serial Data Inputs by choosing 1 Input, or Input1 – Input2.  Assign the Input to the appropriate channels.  Beneath Signal Type, choose your signal type from the list or select Custom.  In the example below, 6Gb/s SATA is chosen.

Select the Clock tab. If you are acquiring data, select Find Rate Now.  Check that the bitrate is as expected. Beneath PLL Setup, check the PLL On box, and select the PLL type for your signal.  The default is FC Golden.  If we were using SSC, we would choose Custom, and set a 2-pole filter.

Select the Eye tab.  Check the Enable Eye Meas. Box.  Check the Show Eye box.  The example below shows an eye as well as an eye mask.  For eye mask testing, select a Mask Type and check the Show Mask and Show Mask Failures box.
